San Francisco- Cousins Weekend (No Kids!!)

Amy, Erin and I have been trying to plan a San Francisco adults only weekend for quite some time. All the guys had never done Alcatraz, and it had been 20 years since I did it myself :)
And coming up with a free weekend that worked for all of us (and our childcare help.....) wasn't easy!
But we made it work!!! And off we went this past Friday.......
We started the weekend off at AT&T Park for a Giants game Friday night!!
Gorgeous weekend! We stayed at a hotel in Oakland, so we took BART into the city both days!
Had great nosebleed seats over 3rd base
First fireworks show of the summer season
Day 2: We headed into the city via BART, and then on foot to head toward Embaradero!
Inside the Ferry Building! We had never been here but it is amazing!
If you come, just plan to eat at the MANY vendors who sell seafood, meats, cheeses, dumplings and pastries! WOW!!!
We ate lunch at "The Marketbar" at the Ferry Building! Mike and I shared crab deviled eggs as one of our meals!
After lunch we headed to Pier 33 to meet our Alcatraz ferry!
Only sighting/photo of the Golden Gate Bridge! Kind of hazy that direction
 The boys!
 Amy/Adam behind bars
 We had our own cells!
View of the city from Alcatraz
 Allison/Mike behind bars
After Alcatraz we got off the ferry boat, and walked into town for dinner!
Amy picked out a great German restaurant. And the food/drinks were fantastic!!!
The 6 of us shared this "Salumi" meat appetizer platter! It was huge and delish!!!
Drink #2 for Amy and I......we shared this 1.0 Liter ale!! (and finished it!!)
The table next to us had a gentlemen that ordered the 5 Liter ale in a HUGE Stein mug!!!!! WOW it was amazing just to see! The 2 Liter option came in a glass cowboy boot! Seemed equally large! No boots or giant steins at our table! (Eat at "Leopolds" in Russian Hill if you are in the city!! Won't disappoint)
After dinner we headed to Amy/Adam's favorite bar! It has pop-a-shot basketball challenge (which Amy reigned supreme at scoring!!), Fusbal, and Pinball.....all of which we took part in!
At 11pm we called it a night and caught a cab back to the BART station to head to the hotel.
We all had a WONDERFUL weekend together!!
Special thanks to my mom and Henry, and Ken/Joanne for watching the 4 grand kids so we could make this kid-free weekend happen!! One for the history books for sure!!

Family totem pole!

These three light up my life!! Always a good laugh!!

Bath time!

I caught these two in the bath working together!
Its nice when your big sister can wash your hair!!

Zoodles anyone??!!

Meet my new "Spiralizer"
My new mini obsession is cooking healthy. Trying to find new ways to eliminate the bad!!
So this is a vegetable slicer/spiralizer that creates "noodles" or shapes from veggies to replace pastas!
My first go I spiralized zucchini (zucchini noodles- zoodles) and squash and put chicken apple sausages over it! YUM!
Next up will be sweet potato, apples, and whatever else I can spiral!

Navy Farewell

In true NAVY fashion, we had a farewell night out for my good friend/neighbor Susan who is moving the end of June down to San Diego.
We headed out, all 8 of us, and went to a tasting room for drinks, then dinner, then a few bars for more drinks, and back to the neighborhood for dessert and a bonfire!
Never a dull moment around here. Sad to see her leave, but it was a fun night out together!

Sister Time

Now that Abby is a pretty good reader, she can read to her little sister!
