Almost two weeks ago, Abby had her surgery to remove the tough discolored skin from under her right armpit. The surgery went great, and her recovery couldn't have been better. She was never in pain and didn't require pain meds after the first day!
The surgery was performed at Stanford's Childrens Hospital in Palo Alto. 90 minutes from us, but worth every ounce of driving for the awesome facility and care she received!
We go back this Friday for her post-op to clear her for activity. THANK GOODNESS because the doctors orders were strict as to no outdoor playing or fun for TWO WEEKS!!! Keeping a 6 year old mellow and indoors that long, in Monterey no less where the weather is so nice.......is VERY hard!!
Getting prepped for anesthesia.......now that she's 6, she was brave and mature enough to go straight to the sleepy mask with the staff. She never cried, whimpered or expressed concern once! And when I said goodbye and offered her a second hug/kiss, she refused!! So proud of our BRAVE BIG GIRL!
She had her own TV with movies
Testing out the mask flavor- "bubble gum"
While Abby was in surgery, the three of us went to the cafeteria for breakfast. We had to check in for the 7:30am procedure at 6am, so that meant we left the house at 4am!!! So we were HUNGRY!!
Sleepy girl coming out of anesthesia
We finally had to prop her bed up to get her to stay awake. Otherwise I'm pretty sure the warm blankets, cozy bed and promise of unlimited popsicles would have kept her there all day.
Home bound!! She crashed in the car. But was super hungry and ready to eat when she woke up!
