A Little Visitor

Yesterday we babysat my  friend's son PJ (13 months old). They took their daughter to see a movie, and we were going to take Abby, so we took turns swapping babies yesterday & today so we could take the big girls to their first movie experience.

PJ is crawling and pulling up on everything and walking along the furniture, so it was a good lesson that our house is not 100% babyproofed yet! And Maddy is close to crawling, so I have to get on that....soon! Abby had a BLAST following PJ the whole time he was here. A little insight as to what she will enjoy when Maddy is that age.

Sharing

Abby wanted Maddy to sit on her Dora couch with her. BIG GIRLS!!! I can see one day she might ask to share a room with her too!! And she nicely brought Maddy the tambourine to play with too. She knows Maddy likes it when she's in her room. She's getting good at learning what makes Maddy happy.

Our little cutie pie! Post bath....and then we took the kids to the aquarium the other night, it was her first time getting to see everything like this in the stroller, she was great!

Mike was upstairs with us getting his uniform ready for a change of command ceremony tomorrow, and Abby picked up his cover and put it on! She thought she was soooo funny. So daddy gave her the backup cover and they each got to wear one.

Little Miss Maddy

Our little Maddy is getting SO BIG! Where does the time go??

I just realized the other day that her 1st birthday is in 4 months! YIKES!

And having their birthdays 1 month apart should be interesting.....reminds me of the days of Amy and I growing up since I was January and she was February!! I see many shared birthday celebrations in their future.

She is just too good of a baby, and too cute! I love to love her!!

So far she is NEVER the troublemaker in our family.

Paint me a room!!!!

Well, one more painting project is under Mike's belt!!!

BUT there are a few more to go (our bedroom and the dining room- which is a major re-do).

But that is for another day, far from this one.

Mike spent every night of this past week up 'til the wee hours doing the white trim in the hall & entryway with the buttercream yellow wall color, and the green wall color in the toy room.

He did a great job, and it was all just in time before our 4th of July guests arrived. Yeah babe!

Abby kept asking him when he was going to paint the white and yellow each day! So it is now done and she doesn't ask anymore! Nice!!

This white trim is a real PAIN!!!! He painstakingly had to tape off everything and paint the trim twice. Once to cover/prime the dark wood trim, then another coat to get it looking pretty!

Now our entryway is nice and bright and cheery! That white trim makes a HUGE difference!

Slowly but surely it will all be white.

Sparklers

We had a FUN 4th of July!

Our Sunday BBQ was a lot of fun! We had friends & neighbors over for swimming and fun and the kids had a blast. Abby skipped her nap that afternoon before the arty(which made me worry....) but she pulled thru and really enjoyed having so many friends to play with. The pool was full of kids and toys! Eating dinner in the grass with all the kids was a plus too. Now she keeps asking to eat there. Ugggh.....kids get so stuck on things.

Abby had her first firework experience in our own backyard, luckily since most are illegal here (at least the ones Mike would love to play with)....she got sparklers (courtesy of our neighbors who over-bought and donated to her!!).

Our friend Will stayed into the night and helped Abby light her first sparkler. She was very serious at first, and then when I taught her to make shapes in the air with it, she wanted MORE! Imagine that!

Good thing we were near a big body of water, no safety issues here!! A bit smokey though.

PS: She is ALMOST crawling.....anyday now and she will be following me around the house. She gets up on her knees and scoots forward an inch or two. Baby gates will be going up soon! Containment is in her near future!!

Pre 4th of July Fun

This morning our neighborhood civic league had their annual "4th of July Parade". We all met with our decorated bikes, strollers and wagons and strolled down the main road for 1 mile, trailing a fire truck! Got the girls all decked out in their 4th attire, and headed out in the double stroller to meet some new people.

Then the parade ended at the neighborhood park across from our house and we bbq'd hotdogs and everyone brought a dish to share! Abby had fun running around with the kids and swinging!

Eating cake was a hit too!!

This was right before we left the house for the parade....babies down!! Everywhere!! Maddy was ready for a nap.....Abby was being goofy putting her sunglasses on upside down, and the dolls were a mishap! Funny picture.

We are having a bbq/pool party with friends tomorrow afternoon, so I'm not sure how many photos I will end up taking. Hostess and kid duty might overrule the camera!!

Kisses are the best!

Abby LOVES kissing Maddy, and Maddy really gets a kick out of it. Last night they sat on the floor together while I did dishes, and I caught Maddy giggling as Abby kissed on her! Maddy loves her big sis' attention! I can always tell by Maddy's reaction (laughing/crying) what is going on when I'm not looking.

Abby got up from a two hour nap last weekend, then climbed on the couch and slept some more. First time she's ever done that. I think her summer swimming activities are catching up with her FINALLY!

Abby LOVES her play kitchen. Here she apparently made roxy a bowl of food and a drink and put it in front of her to enjoy. I don't think she was amused that there was no actual food in it!
