We made it out for an obligatory Pumpkin Patch visit today!
We were lucky to have today off from school....so we avoided the weekend crowds!
They each picked their pumpkins, and we completed the corn maze!!

Visit down South
The girls and I just returned from a FUN 4-day trip down south to visit family!
They had the week off for Fall break....and we took full advantage (Mike had to stay behind as his school was still in session!)!!

Monday we visited the Redondo Beach Pier with Great-Grandpa Bob
Lunch at the pier---Maddy still impresses me from time to time!
She ordered (and ate!!) clam chowder, fried shrimp, and tasted my crab cake and linguini and clams pasta!!
Tuesday: We made a quick trip to play tennis, play at the park, and then headed down to the harbor to visit the Maritime museum. They had a wonderful kids scavenger hunt which the girls both loved.
Then after lunch we headed out to Cabrillo beach for some tide pool fun.

Wednesday: We started with a morning run/ride down at the harbor, and we were there just in time for the first fountain display of the day!
Later that afternoon we picked up Grandma Donna and we headed to the La Brea Tar Pits

We finished off our last night in town with an obligatory trip to the girls favorite....the Chinese Buffet!! Maddy even asked to try the green tea ice cream!
And Henry did the final bedtime reading!!

Navy Friends
We are so lucky to live close to great friends.
My good friend Danielle and her family came out for the weekend.
And our friends the Rogge's live just down the street!
So we all came together for a great dinner last night here at our house.
We all first met in Mugu, 7 years ago.
Now we have 6 kids and we have each moved East, and back West again......
American Pride
Abby's school held its annual American Pride assembly Friday morning.
She was eager to wear her red white and blue! American flag clips in her hair and all!
Heat Wave
Most of California is in a heat wave this week.
We are melting.......Monterey has NO air conditioning.
We spent time in the shade painting, and then we hit the beach!
Weekend with Grandma Donna
Last weekend Grandma Donna and Henry came up to work at the Pebble Beach golf tournament.
And for a quick visit!!
The girls had a great time, and we enjoyed a night out and away at the local Navy hotel (one of our bucket list items while here in Monterey--The old Del Monte hotel) while the kids got a night out for sushi dinner and a movie.
