On our return from America to Japan after the wedding, my Aunt Brenda came back with us for a 10 day visit! It was so fun playing tour guide and showing her around Tokyo!!
We haven't had visitors in a LONG time (long for me....), so it was fun to have a good reason to go explore!

We all tried the Octopus Cracker!!! A pressed octopus with batter, made into a cracker!!! Not as bad as it looks

Lucky to have time to take Brenda to the most amazing sushi restaurant near our base! The owner/chef hosts Americans as a THANK YOU for our US aide in the recovery after the Fukushima Earthquake/Tsunami incident. He charges $60/pp and it is practically unlimited courses of sushi and all the alcohol you can drink! YUMMM is an understatement. We tested our palates with some new fish that night! We got to sit at the bar, and enjoyed listening to him explain everything he does to prepare the meal! History and dining combined!!
He just keeps bringing out food!
We had LIVE prawns!! Literally we watched his helper chef grab the prawns from the fish tank and put them on our plate!!! We had to snap off their heads, and peel them while they are WIGGLING and ALIVE!!!!!! Then dip them in wasabi and soy sauce and EAT them!!!!! We both did it successfully, but it is probably the hardest thing I've ever done.
These are the fried shrimp heads--from the ones we de-headed live!!!! He took the heads back and fried them. Amazingly delicious! Brenda had them before and I concur they are a must try!

The traditional way to eat sashimi (raw fish on rice) is "one bite"!

Our second big try for the night was the Puffer fish! Which if you don't know, can be deadly if not prepared correctly! Ours was quite interesting, but tasty. Not sure I'd order it again, but neat to say I tried it.
Brenda's visit was over a shrine sale day! So we went out to find some treasures!!
A first for me, we made an amazing trip up to Hakone, and the weather cooperated!!

Adventure to Harajuku......and we indulged in a GIANT cotton candy that was rainbow colored and bigger than my head!!
